Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2, 2026

Acorn Works, LLC ("Acorn Works," "we," "us") builds custom software for small and midsized businesses. This policy explains what we collect through theacornworks.com, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

The short version

We do not use cookies. We do not run advertising trackers. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed below who help us operate the site. The analytics we collect are aggregate and cannot identify you personally.

What you give us directly

When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, company name, company size, a description of your problem, and how you heard about us. We use this to reply to you and to keep a record of the conversation. It is emailed to us and stored in our database.

When you use the diagnostic tool, we store the full conversation — what you type, the options you select, and the solution description generated at the end. We do this so we can understand the problems people bring us and improve how the tool responds. Please do not enter confidential information, customer data, credentials, or anything you would not put in a first email to a stranger.

What we collect automatically

We record which pages are viewed, the site or search engine you arrived from, any campaign parameters in the link you followed, an approximate country derived from your connection, your browser and device type, roughly how long a page was actively in view, how far down a page was read, and clicks on our email links.

We do not store your IP address. It is combined with your browser identifier and a secret value that we rotate every day, then irreversibly hashed. This lets us tell one visit from another on the same day without building any profile of you over time, and it cannot be reversed to identify you.

We filter out automated traffic from crawlers and bots so our numbers reflect actual readers.

Who else processes your data

We keep this list short on purpose.

  • Anthropic — the diagnostic tool is powered by Claude. What you type into that tool is sent to Anthropic to generate a response. This is the one place your words leave our systems in real time, which is why we ask you not to put anything confidential into it.
  • Supabase — hosts our database, where contact submissions, diagnostic conversations, and analytics events are stored.
  • Resend — delivers the notification email when you contact us.
  • Lovable — hosts the site and provides basic, cookieless visitor statistics.
  • Google Fonts — our typefaces are served from Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads.

All of these process data in the United States.

How long we keep it

Contact submissions are kept until you ask us to delete them. Diagnostic conversations are kept for 24 months. Analytics events are kept for 14 months and contain no direct identifiers.

Your choices

Email aaron@acornworksai.com and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. There is no form and no account to log into — a plain email reaches a human.

If you would rather not be counted in our analytics at all, add ?noanalytics=1 to any page URL once and we will stop recording your activity on that browser.

If you are in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA, and we do not offer financial incentives in exchange for it.

If you are in the UK or the EU, we process contact and diagnostic data to respond to your enquiry and to operate our business, and we rely on legitimate interests for aggregate analytics. You have the right to access, correct, delete, or object to that processing, and to complain to your local supervisory authority. Note that your data is processed in the United States.

Children

This site is intended for businesses. It is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Security

Data is stored in an access-controlled database and transmitted over encrypted connections. No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise — but we collect little enough that there is not much to lose.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will say so plainly rather than quietly revising the text.
